Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder to accurately review and code inpatient medical records in an acute-care hospital setting. The coder will ensure accurate coding, reimbursement, medical record documentation, and compliance with coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze inpatient medical records for accurate coding.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Apply MS-DRG and Medicare/IPPS coding guidelines.
• Abstract clinical information from medical records.
• Identify coding discrepancies and opportunities for improvement.
• Perform coding queries when additional documentation is needed.
• Review denials and assist with coding-related issues.
• Maintain required productivity and quality standards.
• Use encoder/CAC systems such as 3M 360 or similar platforms.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute-care hospital setting.
• One of the following certifications/credentials:
• • CCS – Certified Coding Specialist
  • RHIA – Registered Health Information Administrator
  • RHIT – Registered Health Information Technician
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and MS-DRG .
• Knowledge of inpatient coding guidelines and Medicare/IPPS regulations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
